Thinking of selling a house
Do you know who is responsible if someone get hurt or break something, while they are visiting an open house?

For one thing, you do not know who you are letting in the door.

Yes, real estate agents know that one of the tools to sell a house is having open houses, but they also know that every person that visits that open house is a possible buyer and if the house they are having the open house on, is not what the buyer is looking for, they may be able to find them one that fit.

And for that reason, having an open house can be a good marketing tool.

But when a real estate agent has an open house, they also know that they do not know who may be coming in the house and as an agent of the seller, they have to be aware of any safety issues, where someone could get hurt or where something could get broken.

When a real estate agent has an open house, that agent has taken a partial responsibility for the safety of the people that visit that open house.

What if someone gets hurt at the open house?

If someone gets hurt at an open house, the real estate agent and the owner better have insurance.
